Placenta consumption, a centuries old tradition has become increasingly more attractive to today’s modern birthing individuals.

The challenges associated with the postpartum period, such as recovering from birth, navigating sleep deprivation, and learning to recognize the cues your new baby is expressing are among some of the difficulties one must overcome.

Placenta Encapsulation

A tool in your postpartum recovery tool kit!

Placenta encapsulation is the process of cleansing, steaming, and dehydrating one’s placenta in order to crush it into powder form and place it into gel capsules to be ingested by the person who gave birth to it. While the benefits of placenta ingestion have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration, the following anecdotal evidence has been reported.

Benefits of placenta ingestion via encapsulation:

  • Increased energy levels

  • Hormone regulation

  • Mood stabilization

  • Increased milk supply

  • Reduction in postpartum bleeding

  • A speedier recovery from birth

My wife used Doulas of Raleigh and is 100% confident the encapsulating of her placenta made her postpartum period so much better.
