Favorite Date Night Restaurants Around the Triangle
February 14th is fast approaching so maybe you’ve got love and romance on the brain. Or maybe (like me) you’re still in denial that it’s even 2023 and you have no idea what month it is, but a date night still sounds nice. Either way, we’ve got you covered with this week’s blog. So get that babysitter lined up (or reach out to your favorite postpartum doulas wink wink) and check out this week’s blog to see our favorite date night restaurants around the Triangle.
1. La Grassa Pastificio - Cary
One of my favorite new restuarants in Cary, this little Italian place might not look like much from the outside but never judge a book by it’s cover. Look beyond the strip mall and you will find some of the best Italian food around at La Grassa. The setting is small - actually let’s call it cozy - but the flavors are big. The pasta is all made in house, the menu changes frequently to give you a taste of what’s in season, and you absolutely cannot miss the homemade foccacia bread. Get a reservation because they book up fast!
2. Glasshouse Kitchen - RTP
The Research Triangle Park area hasn’t really been known for it’s incredible restaurants, but I have a feeling that Glasshouse Kitchen is going to change that. Aptly named, this giant glass building is absolutely beautiful inside with stunning light fixtures and living green displays all around. The menu changes seasonally and all food is made from scratch in house. They also have an impressive wine list to really set that date night mood.
3. Gioccolina - Durham
If your wallet can’t quite accommodate a trip to Italy right now, Gioccolina is your next best bet for amazing, authentic Italian food. The daily hand-written chalkboard menu always boasts handmade pastas, fresh fish dishes, and a delicious array of antipastas. Sit outside on the patio or enjoy the candlelight ambiance inside the dining room. And don’t miss the house made limoncello - it is to die for.
4. Jolie - Raleigh
If you’re looking for romance, the French will never steer you wrong. Jolie is one of my favorite restaurants in Raleigh for date nights, birthdays, anniversaries, or really anything - I’d be lying if I said I need an excuse to eat here. This little French bistro has all the classics - steak tartare, escargot, mussels - but also updates the menu with weekly specials. And trust me, make your reservation for the rooftop patio. There’s nothing like indulgent French cuisine with a view.
5. Mandolin - Raleigh
Another Raleigh favorite is Mandolin. The food is Southern inspired but definitely with its own upscale twist. We’re talking skillet cornbread, shrimp toast, and oysters but with flare (my little Southern mouth is watering just typing this out). Mandolin sources many of its ingredients from local farms and often rolls out special seasonal menus to honor its North Carolina roots. The desserts are incredible too.
