In-Home Encapsulation: You Want To Do What In My Kitchen?!

As a full-service doula agency, Doulas of Raleigh is proud to offer everything you need from pregnancy through postpartum. This includes placenta encapsulation, an increasingly popular choice for new mothers' postpartum recovery.

But do you know what sets Doulas of Raleigh apart from many of the other encapsulators in this area?

We only process placentas in our clients' homes. That's right, the encapsulation process takes place in your kitchen from start to finish.

This is where some people say, "Hold up! You want to do what in my kitchen?!"

But hear us out - there are several extremely important reasons we do it this way.

Peace of Mind

While placenta encapsulation has become increasingly popular, it still remains an unregulated industry. Therefore it falls on the individual encapsulator to put standards in place that protect the client and the professionalism of the business.

At Doulas of Raleigh, we have systems in place that leave no room for doubt in our clients' minds.

We do not transport placentas and we do not process them anywhere except in the client's home. Instead we provide each client with a hospital transport kit so they can safely transport their own placenta home from the hospital. They have complete control over the chain of custody and never have to worry about whether their placenta has been left to sit in a hot car while the encapsulator runs errands or was stored in the company work fridge next to somebody's lunch (yes, that actually happened in another community).

We want you to have peace of mind during the postpartum period. There should be no questions as to whether your placenta pills are actually yours.

Sanitation and Safety

We also adhere to the highest safety standards when it comes to encapsulation, and that means processing in our clients' homes.

All of our Postpartum Placenta Specialists are certified for blood-borne pathogens (BBP) and follow safe-food prep handling guidelines. Our equipment is always sanitized according to BBP handling as well. Anything that cannot be sanitized properly is considered one-time use only and discarded after each processing.

And hopefully, this is the bare minimum that all placenta encapsulators do.

But by processing in your home, we go one step further. You never have to worry about the cleanliness of our home or kitchen or whether our kids are playing with the dehydrator. You also do not have to worry about your placenta being exposed to an unfamiliar bacterial biome that could potentially interfere with your healthy postpartum recovery.

By processing in your kitchen, you can be guaranteed that your placenta is being handled in an environment that meets your safety and sanitation guidelines - your own kitchen.

In-Person Support

All of Doulas of Raleigh's Postpartum Placenta Specialists are also professionally trained postpartum doulas. This means that in addition to processing your placenta, we are also there to answer feeding questions, help with newborn care, tidy the kitchen, or just be a listening ear during this vulnerable time.

But we cannot support you like this if we are not with you.

By encapsulating in our clients homes, we are available to them to provide them with some much needed postpartum support as they settle in with their new baby. We want our clients' postpartum recovery to get off to the best possible start and this is just one more way that we help make that happen.

We want this experience to be the best it possibly can for you. We work around your schedule and comfort level, provide all of our own equipment, and always leave you with a sparkling clean kitchen.

But we always insist that, in addition to being the best possible experience, that it is also the safest. Guaranteed.
